Italian antenna manufacturer Polomarconi has signed a marketing and distribution agreement with Multipulse.

Heading the product range for the UK market is a new train antenna approved for the imminent Version 4 upgrade of GSM-R cab radios as well as MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) multi-media products such as on-train wi-fi systems.

The upgrade project is still in its early stages, but there have been extensive trials of the new systems in several fleets and much of the GSM-R area. Some train operating companies have already placed orders so they can offer customers the enhanced on-train connectivity as soon as it is available.

The new Version 4 radio from Siemens has the same footprint as earlier models, but needs a superior antenna to handle the growing volume of railway communication and customer facilities.
